Porta Potty Rental in Brooklyn, NY

Standard and ADA units, handwash stations and restroom trailers for jobsites, block parties and weddings. Dropped where they fit, pumped on schedule, picked up when you're done.

Where can a porta potty go on your block?

Brooklyn Porta Johns gets porta potties dropped at jobsites, block parties, weddings and building lots across Brooklyn, NY, and in parts of Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx. You can order standard units for a crew, restroom trailers for a wedding or a company event, and ADA units, handwash stations and holding tanks to go with them.

Before anything else, the rental company needs to know where the unit will stand. A vacant lot or a driveway is simple. On a row of attached houses in Bed-Stuy or Bushwick, with no side yard, the unit usually goes in the front areaway or at the curb. The truck also has to park close enough for its hose to reach the unit on every service day.

When you call, say where the unit goes and how many people will use it. The quote is built from those two answers.

  • Handwashing Stations

Sizing

How many porta potties do you need?

The chart comes from the Portable Sanitation Association International, based on a University of Missouri-St. Louis study. It assumes nobody pumps the units during the event and the crowd is half men, half women.

Jobsites use a different rule. OSHA sets the minimum by crew size, starting at one toilet for up to 20 workers. The calculator handles both.

Units recommended by PSAI, no pumping during the event. Add 10 to 20 percent if alcohol is served.

What does porta potty rental cost?

Ask for each of these by name before you book. A quote that rolls them into one number is hard to check against a second quote.

What drives porta potty rental cost
Rental period
Per day, weekend, week or 28-day month. Long jobs usually price by the month.
Service days
Pump, clean and restock. Ask how many a week the price covers.
Delivery and pickup
Often billed on their own lines. Early, late and weekend windows can cost more.
Damage or waiver fee
Covers vandalism, tipping and fire. Street placements are more exposed.
Permits and taxes
City permits are your cost unless the quote says otherwise. Ask if tax is included.

Before you book

Do I need a permit to put a porta potty on the street in Brooklyn?

On your own lot or backyard, usually not. On a city sidewalk or roadway, NYC DOT decides. A street event goes through the Street Activity Permit Office. The permits and placement guide covers each case.

What happens if a unit gets knocked over or tagged?

Call the company that dropped it. It owns the unit and sends the truck. The waiver line in the quote decides who pays for the damage, so read that line before you book.

Can a unit go in a backyard behind a rowhouse?

Only if the truck's hose can reach it on every service day. Measure the path from the street, through any gate or alley, to the spot, and give that number on the call. If the hose can't reach, the curb or the front areaway is the fallback.

Is a porta john different from a porta potty?

No. It’s the same single-stall unit under another name, and people here use both. What changes the quote is the type: standard, flushing, ADA or a restroom trailer. The services page compares them.

Do you cover Staten Island?

Not right now. If your ZIP isn’t on the service area page, call anyway before you rule it out.

Measure the spot, then call

Get the width of the curb or lot and the length of the path the truck's hose has to travel. With those two numbers, the rental company can price the placement on the first call.
